MRC Order of Merit - Season Review The 2026 MRC Order of Merit has concluded after another highly competitive season, with consistent performances throughout the year producing a closely contested leaderboard. At the end of the campaign, Mr Captain, Brad Eardley emerged as the worthy Order of Merit Champion with an impressive 74.56 points, finishing ahead of a strong challenge from Lee Bailey, who secured second place on 70.16 points. The battle for the remaining places was equally competitive, with Gary Pickford, David Edwards, and Peter Curtis-Brown rounding out the top five. Order of Merit Champion - Brad Eardley A special congratulations must go to Brad Eardley on a truly outstanding achievement in being crowned the 2026 MRC Order of Merit Champion. What makes this success even more notable is that Brad achieved it during his year as Club Captain. Balancing the responsibilities of leading the club, supporting members, representing MRC at events, team matches and maintaining his own high standards of golf is no easy task. Despite these additional commitments, Brad consistently produced the consistency required to accumulate the highest points total of the season. His victory is a reflection not only of his golfing ability but also of his commitment and dedication to the club. Throughout the year, Brad has led by example both on and off the course, demonstrating the qualities expected of a Club Captain while remaining a competitive player in the field. Winning the club's premier season-long competition whilst serving as Captain is an achievement that deserves significant recognition and is something Brad should be immensely proud of. Having worked closely along side Mr captain all year, I am extremely chuffed for you mate. Recognition for the Leading Players Lee Bailey pushed the champion all the way, finishing just 4.4 points behind in second place after a season of strong and consistent performances. For those who are not aware, lee had a car accident after support the lads in the Dofsky final. he is lucky to be alive, and despite breaking his back in three places, he is making a speedy recovery. Gary Pickford secured third place with 64.00 points, demonstrating excellent form throughout the year and earning a deserved place on the podium. David Edwards finished a very close fourth on 63.66 points, highlighting how competitive the standings remained right through the season.
