Don was a true gentleman and a fine sportsman. As an excellent seam bowler and tidy batsman, for many years he played cricket at a high level, including Minor Counties cricket where he deceived even the best batsmen with the movement of the ball. He was a leading member of the Wolverhampton Cricket Club team which won the National Club Knock Out competition at Lords in 1973. When Don turned more to golf, he quickly became a single figure handicapper, with an exceptionally fine short game. For many years he lived in the big white house behind the 6th green, from which he could observe the strivings of those less accurate.
Don was a respected solicitor, specialising in residential and commercial property law. As a member of the Tettenhall Rotary Club, he contributed enthusiastically to community work.
He will be missed by all those who had the good fortune to know him well.
