Gents Handicap Championship Results - Round 1
Brilliant debut of new tournament
Introduced for 2024, the Handicap Championship for The Victory Cup got underway tonight in extremely testing conditions. There were many spectators and caddies wearing beanie hats, with a set of winter mitts spotted too, on what was a sunny, sometimes wet, cold and incredibly windy evening.

Jim Leask (11) and Stephen Pirrie (6) hit the first tee shots of the new competition shortly after 4:15. Jim ran out a 5&4 winner.
Martin Boyers (7) took out David Ferguson (10) on the final green - 1UP.
Craig Hobson (5) also took his game against Gordon Smith (12) to the 18th, winning - 1UP.
Jamie Bryant (4) overcame Neil MacPherson (13) - 4&2.
Graham Crichton raced to an early lead and held it to defeat Paul Nicolson - 5&4.
Number 1 seed Ali Gillan saw off George Conn (16) - 3&1
Jason Stevenson (3) and Charlie Gibson (14) fought out a great match which swung either way many times, before Jason won - 2&1.
In the final match to finish tonight, it was the young guns of the club which served up a brilliant contest.
Matt Robson (2) and Mason Chisolm (15) took us all the way to the 20th hole, with Mason holing a 25ft eagle putt to secure victory.

All matches were played in a great spirit, and we thank all players for their commitment to this new venture.

The Quarter Final matches, played tomorrow evening (5th June) are as follows :-

Ali Gillan (1) v Graham Crichton (9)
Jamie Bryant (4) v Craig Hobson (5)

The Club Championship matches will tee off from around 4:30 with the Handicap Championship matches around 5:20. Do come out to watch and lend all players your support.

Play well!
