John Shanks (1) defeated Stuart Fairgrieve (16) - 5&4 to get his title defence underway.
Ally Berry (15) defeated Darren Mallinson (2) on the 18th - 1UP
Gareth Lamb (3) saw off Sam Moore (14) - 2&1
Ian Jardine (13) took the scalp of Jack Thomas (4) - 4&2
Greg Cathie (6) was turned over by Craig Adams (11) - 2&1
Jim Mackison (10) took Chris Hobson (7) all the way to the 18th before prevailing - 1UP
Mark Anderson (9) was victorious over Ken Smith (8) - 4&2
In the final match of the evening, played in record pace, Daniel Forbes (12) defeated George J Robertson (5) - 1UP on the final green.
