Bowood yn curo Cape Cernyw
On Sunday 5th of November 2023, Bowood Park visited Truro GC to play Cape Cornwall in the second round of the Cornwall Bowl Team Championships.

Truro managed to present a great course in spite of the recent weather we have incurred where many matches had been postponed, so thank you to Truro GC for their efforts.

The team rolled out as followed-
Patrick Curtis & Phil Purnell
Sam Chapman & Darren Pearce
Len Flower & Andrew Balmer
Pete Rabson & David Parsons
Lee Bowers & Colin Pitcher

A special mention to Andrew Balmer who made his maiden appearance in the Cornwall Bowl as a result of a late replacement for Howard Smith who picked up an injury late last week.

The match commenced at 11 a.m. and saw players venture onto a soggy Truro. Sam Chapman & Darren Pearce made light their opponents once again with a comfortable 6&5 win. First blood to Bowood!

Pete Rabson & David Parsons had a similar result, unfortunately, the other way this time with a 6&4 loss.

Lee Bowers & Colin Pitcher had a good tussle with their opponents and won 2&1.

With only one more point required for the win, Bowood provided 2 points enabling a 4-1 win thanks to Patrick Curtis & Phil Purnell clinching their win on the last hole thanks to a solid approach from Pat and a clinical finish from Phil.

Len Flower and Andrew Balmer went to the 19th where Andrew sunk a nervy putt to secure their match. Nerves of steel from the young man!

Thank you once again to all the caddies, supporters, and Captains.

We will play Perranporth or Whitsand Bay in the next round with a venue to be confirmed.
